WENHAM, Massachusetts -- Led by a winning performance from Tiana Thomas,
the University of New England women's cross country team made it three
victories in three starts by breezing past the field at the Pop Crowell
Invitational held on the campus of Gordon College Saturday morning
(Sept. 26).
The host Fighting Scots finished a distant second
place with 46 points, while the University of Maine Farmington placed
third with a score of 109.
Thomas earned her second individual title of the young season, topping all 129 competitors with a time of 18:28. Emma Robidoux finished runner-up for the first time in her career. She clocked a sub-19:00 effort with a time of 18:59.
Amanda MacDonald (19:21), Lexie Basiliere (19:39) and Rose Earl
(19:44) placed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, with only
Gordon's Emily Nelson third-place showing preventing the Nor'easters
from registering a perfect team total of 15.
The Nor'easters are
off for a week before splitting their squad Oct. 10 with some runners
participating at the James Earley Invitational and the remainder at the
