LYNDON CENTER, Vermont – The Thomas College men's soccer team won their
first North Atlantic Conference match against Lyndon State College on
Saturday, 6-0. DJ Nicholas tallied three goals on the day.
Nicholas's first came in the 7th minute off a through pass from Tre Ming. The Terriers took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Thomas tallied their second goal in the 51st minute when the Hornet's keeper saved a shot from Josh Emard
but was unable to get possession and Nicholas was there to send it into
the net to make the score 2-0. Less than four minutes later, Nicholas
would pick up his third goal off a through pass from Willie Clemons.
In the 74th minute, William Nilson made a cross from the right side of the field to Kyle Fletcher, who settled the ball and drove a shot into the left side of the goal to push the score to 4-0.
In the 84th minute, a header off of Ming was tipped
towards Fletcher, who controlled the ball and let off a shot that was
deflected by Lyndon's keeper and into the net for his second of the
game. The Terriers capped off their scoring in the 89th minute as Tre Ming received a lead pass from London Steede-Jackson, and got a shot around the Lyndon keeper to end the day's score at 6-0.
Thomas will play cross-town rival Colby on Monday, September 28 in a non-conference game at 7:00 pm.
