No. 2 Ephs deal women's soccer their first NESCAC loss, 2-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- No. 2 nationally ranked Williams received goals from Kristi Kirshe in both halves, both of them assisted by Crystal Lewin, which propelled the Ephs to a 2-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference victory over the visiting Bates women's soccer team on Sunday.

The Bobcats (3-2-2, 0-1-2 NESCAC) hung in well against the Ephs (7-0-0, 6-0-0 NESCAC) despite an 18-5 disadvantage in shots taken. Sophomore goalie Sarah McCarthy (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) helped out Bates' cause with seven saves.

Sophomores Hannah Behringer (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Julia Rosen (Springfield, Ill.) both put shots on goal for the Bobcats, leading to Williams goalie Tressa Palcheck's two saves in the game.

Next up for the Bobcats will be a NESCAC game against Trinity on Saturday at 11am, part of Back to Bates Weekend. UMaine-Fort Kent will visit on Sunday at 1pm for a non-conference game.
