FARMINGTON, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw with Maine-Farmington on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action.
The Mariners got on the board early when Tristan Richards (Greenville, Maine) found Henry Hersey (Greenville, Maine) in front of the net in the 3rd minute, taking a 1-0 lead into the half.
The Beavers (3-3-1, 1-0-1) answered back in the 50th minute when Ibrahim Achekh found the back of the net past Mariner keeperJoshua Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) to notch the game at 1-1. In two overtime periods neither team found the back of the net, despite recording four shots each.
Reeks ended the afternoon with an impressive seven saves, while Matt Wilson recorded nine saves in net for the Beavers. Kyle Haslam (Lamoine, Maine) and Hersey chipped in with two shots on goal each.
The Mariners (1-6-1, 0-1-1) return to action next weekend when they host a pair of NAC opponents, Lyndon State on Saturday, October 3 and Johnson State on Sunday, October 4.
