LYNDON CENTER, Vermont – The Thomas College women's
soccer team defeated Lyndon State College in their first North Atlantic
Conference game of the season 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. Bronte Howorth scored twice in the win.
The Terriers scored three times in the final eight minutes of the first half. In the 38th minute, Howorth received a pass from Emily Dufour from 30 yards out and fired a shot past the Lyndon goalkeeper to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
Howorth notched her second score of the game less than four minutes later when she netted a Lauren Pelletier corner kick for the second Terrier goal. Cassie Contigiani added the third goal of the game two and a half minutes later to give Thomas the 3-0 lead going into halftime.
Contigiani added another point with an assist on a goal by Kajsa Kaufeldt in the 78th minute to give the Terriers a 4-0 lead. The Hornets added a late goal by Jordan Manning to bring the final score to 4-1.
Thomas goalie Paige Leary
made seven saves on the day for the Terriers, earning the win. Johanna
Sargent made nine sales in goal for the Hornets and was tagged for the
loss.
The Terriers will host Saint Joseph's College on Monday, September 28 in a non-conference game on Smith Field at 7:00 pm.
