BOSTON – Senior Pedro DaSilva (Fogo, Cape Verde/Madison Park (Mass.))
scored four goals to lead the UMass Boston Beacons to a 9-0 win over
the Univeristy of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference
men's soccer game Saturday evening.
UMass Boston remains undefeated on the season with its
eight consecutive win to stand at 8-0 and 2-0 in the Little East.
Southern Maine falls to 1-6-1 with the loss and is 0-2 in the LEC.

Vocational (Mass.)) put his team
ahead 1-0 in the fifth minute before DaSilva scored the first two of his
four goals in the 29th and 39th minutes of the opening half to give UMB
a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Beacons again struck early as
freshman Mohamed Kenawy (Revere, Mass.) and junior Pedro DeCarvalho
(Praia, Cape Verde/Brookline (Mass.)) scored in the 49th and 50th minute
to make it an insurmountable 5-0 Beacons' lead. The Beacons then
scored three goals in a six-minute span to make it 8-0 including goals
from DaSilva in the 65th and 69th minute. The final goal of the game
came on a USM own-goal in the 83rd minute for the 9-0 final.
USM junior Ian Byron (North Yarmouth, Masine/Greely) took the loss allowing eight goals and making four saves in 68:38 of action. Freshman Kevin Dowling
(Stamford, Vt./McCann Technical) finished out the final 21:22 allowing
one goal and making a pair of saves. UMB senior Alfonso Rosales
(Revere, Mass.) earned the shutout making one save in 84:58 of action.
Sophomore Adonis Mutambo (Democratic Republic of Congo/Complex Scolaire
Lumuba) played the final 5:02 and did not record a save.
Southern Maine hosts UMaine Farmington in non-conference action on
Wednesday (4:30 p.m.). UMass Boston travels to Bridgewater State on
Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).
