Women's Cross Country Wins Bowdoin Invitational II, Men Place Second Overall

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's cross country team finished first while the men placed second at the Bowdoin Invitational II on Saturday at Pickard Fields.

The Polar Bear women totaled 16 points to easily out-pace Colby's 63 in the ten-school 6K race. The Colby men earned 24 points to edge out the host Polar Bears (37) in a ten-school 8K competition.

Women's Race
  • Bowdoin earned five of the top six finishers to seal the victory
  • Sarah Kelley led for much of the race, and won by a 17-second margin in 23:14.3
  • The Polar Bears had a 43-second spread between their top five runners, with Lucy Skinner (2nd), Martha Boben (3rd), Sarah Kinney (4th) and Allyson Fulton (6th) rounding out the Bowdoin scorers
Men's Race
  • Bowdoin's Bridger Tomlin won the individual race in a time of 26:02.4, breaking away from the lead pack midway through the race and winning by a comfortable 17 seconds.
  • Calvin Henry and Nicholas Walker placed well for the team in their first races of the season. They were 3rd and 5th for the Polar Bears, respectively.
  • Alec Ferguson-Hull dropped a full minute off his time from the home meet two weeks ago to crack Bowdoin's top-seven.
Up Next
The Polar Bears are off until October 10 when they will compete at the Open New England Championship at Franklin Park in Boston.
