CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer fell to the University of New England on Tuesday night, 2-1 at Ritchie Field in non-conference action.
Jonathan Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) put the Mariners up 1-0 when he headed in a header from Kyle Haslam (Lamoine, Maine) on a Bryan Soucy (Windham, Maine) corner kick. The Mariners took the 1-0 lead into the half.
The Nor'Easters turned on their offense to rally in the second half, with goals from Erik Holmqvist to tie the game at 1-1 in the 51st minute, and Dan Good in the 60th minute to take the lead.
Elijah Leverett picked up the win in net for UNE, stopping four shots, while Joshua Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) stopped two shots in net for the Mariners.
Maine Maritime (0-1) returns to action this Friday, September 4 when they travel to Maine-Fort Kent for a non-conference match. UNE (1-0) hosts Saint Joseph's College of Maine also on Friday.
