Women's Volleyball Opens NESCAC Season With Win at Middlebury

Quincy Leech had 43 assists, eight digs and four blocks in Bowdoin's win

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team got a match-high 18 kills from Christy Jewett en route to a 3-1 win over Middlebury in its NESCAC opener Friday evening at Pepin Gymnasium.


The Polar Bears improve to 3-3 (1-0 NESCAC) while the Panthers fall to 3-2 (0-1 NESCAC).

 
How It Happened

• Bowdoin claimed the win by set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18
• Jewett racked up 18 kills and eight digs to lead the Polar Bears.
• Erika Sklaver added 13 kills and six blocks for Bowdoin while Michelle Albright added nine kills and had 13 digs.
• Katie Doherty earned 23 digs for the Polar Bears
• Quincy Leech keyed the Bowdoin attack with 43 assists on the night to go with four kills, eight digs and four blocks
• Becca Raffel (11 kills) and Isabel Sessions (10 kills) led the Panthers
• The Polar Bears had lost four of the last five meetings between the teams entering tonight. Bowdoin has now won back-to-back matches against Middlebury after edging the Panthers in the NESCAC Quarterfinals last fall.
