Field Hockey: Husson loses at #10 Wellesley‏

WELLESLEY, Massachusetts - Anissa Sridhar scored a pair of goals, and Nikki Sharkin added a pair of assists as No. 10 Wellesley (Mass.) defeated Husson 4-0 in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon at Wellesley's Turf Field.

The Blue earned their first victory of the season while the Eagles dropped to 0-3.

Sridhar opened the scoring, tallying the eventual game-winning goal with an unassisted marker at 14:59 of the first. Courtney Peterson doubled the Wellesley advantage before halftime, scoring her first goal of the season at 23:19, as the hosts took a 2-0 lead into the break.

The Blue added two more goals in the second half, as Rachel Hwang redirected an attempt from Sharkin at 57:29 to score the first collegiate goal of her career. Sridhar and Sharkin then combined to score the final Wellesley goal at 59:44. Sharkin took a big sweep from the top of the circle that the senior forward tipped into the net.

Goalkeeper Anne Marie Provencal had a solid afternoon for the Eagles, making 15 saves on 19 Wellesley shots on goal. Junior Whitney Arno and Kayla Royer also chipped in on defense for Husson, as each recorded a defensive save.

Goalkeeper Lucy Hurlock earned her first victory of the season.

Husson return homes to host Saint Joseph's (Maine) at 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 7.
