MSOC: Terriers Sail Past Westfield State, 2-0

GORHAM, Maine – Justin Bell (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) scored his first collegiate goal and Adam LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine) scored his first of the season as the Thomas College men's soccer team defeated Westfield State 2-0 at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.

Bell's goal came in the 28th minute off a feed from Kyle Patterson (Gorham, Maine) to give Thomas the 1-0 advantage. Later, in the 73rd minute, Patterson found LaBrie for his second assist of the game to give the Terriers the 2-0 win.

Jonathan Dutka (Durham, N.H.) earned his second straight win and  eight career shutout for Thomas. Sean Moore took the loss for Westfield, allowing two goals on six shots.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
  • The Terriers start the season 2-0 for the second consecutive year, following their 2-1 overtime win over Coast Guard on Friday.
  • Thomas did not allow a shot on goal in the contest, the first time they've held an opponent without a shot since October 8, 2017 against Green Mountain.
WHAT'S NEXT
Thomas will host crosstown rival Colby College on Wednesday, September 5 at 7:00 PM in their home opener on Smith Field.
