FH: Bates-Husson game suspended in first half‏

Lewiston, Maine - Bates (Maine) season-opening game against Husson was suspended Wednesday night due to lightning, and is tentatively scheduled to resume on Friday, Sept. 18.

The Bobcats (0-0) led the visiting Eagles (1-3) by a 4-0 score with 10:52 left in the first half when the game was suspended. The action will pick up where it left off on the makeup date.

Four different players scored for Bates in the opening 24 minutes. Adah Lindquist struck first on an assist by Claire Markonic in the sixth minute of the game, on the first shot of the game.

Jessie Moriarty got into the act with a goal in the 12th minute. Husson goalie Kaitlin Dolloff saved Moriarty's shot on a penalty corner, but Moriarty was seized upon the rebound and knocked it in for her first collegiate tally and a 2-0 Bates lead.

Shannon Beaton made it 3-0 in the 21st minute, driving up the middle and ripping a shot into the lower left corner after entering the circle.

Just before play was suspended, Markonic was awarded a penalty stroke and converted it for a 4-0 Bates lead. The Bobcats have outshot the Eagles by an 8-2 margin to this point.

Husson plays at Springfield (Mass.) on Saturday at noon ET.
