GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference announced today that University of Southern Maine senior captain Brooke Davis (Clarendon, Vt./Mill River Union) has been named the initial women's cross country Runner of the Week for the 2015 season.
Davis paced the Huskies to a fourth-place finish in the
Division II-III segment of the Fordham Fiasco held Saturday at historic
Van Cortlandt Park in New York City. Davis was the Huskies' first
finisher coming across the line in 15th place after covering the
5,000-meter course in a time of 21 minutes, 2.36 seconds. Her time was
more than 33 seconds faster than in 2014.
This is the first weekly LEC honor for Davis in her four-year career at USM.
The Huskies totaled 125 points to finish behind East
Stroudsburg University, St. Thomas Aquinas and LIU-Post. East
Stroudsburg placed its five scoring runners among the top ten finishers
for a score of 30. St. Thomas Aquinas had a team score of 92, followed
by LIU Post with 122 and Southern Maine. Monroe College rounded out the
top five with 143 points.
The Huskies are back in action next Saturday (12:00 p.m.)
traveling to Dartmouth, Mass., to compete in the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth Invitational.
