Thursday, September 10

Author Kate Braestrup presents her new book, “Anchor & Flares: A Memoir of Motherhood, Hope & Service,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome. Braestrup is one of the first chaplains ever appointed to the Maine Warden Service.


Friday, September 11

Free Walking Tour of Camden, 4:00 pm, hosted by the Camden Public Library and the Camden Downtown Business Group. The tour lasts approximately an hour; donations are appreciated. Reservations are encouraged; please call the library at 236-3440 or stop by the front desk at the library.


Saturday, September 12

Third Annual Midcoast Mini Maker Faire, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in Camden Amphitheatre – an annual, family-friendly fair, “from high tech to hands-on!” The Maker Faire celebrates tinkerers, makers, artists, and inventors of all sorts. Makers will exhibit in the Amphitheatre, on the street, and in the Library. Donation $2; families $5.


Monday, September 14

Destination Wellness Brown Bag Lunch presentation at 12:00 noon at the Camden Public Library features Ellie Willmann, Vice President of Development for Pen Bay Healthcare. Ellie will moderate a panel discussion with members of the Midcoast Wellness Ambassadors.


Tuesday, September 15

“Career Planning” session with Melinda Wildes of New Ventures Maine, 10:00 am, Camden Public Library. Free; to register call the library or New Ventures Maine.

“Tech Tuesday” talk on “iPad and iPhone Tips and Tricks” at the Camden Public Library, 3:00 pm, with tech wizard Olga Zimmerman.

Author Mike Bond will talk about his newest thriller, “Killing Maine,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The book is a “mind-blowing tale of murder, bribery, nefarious politics and industrial crime against the state’s magical and fast-disappearing natural beauty,” says the publisher.


Thursday, September 17

“Invasive Bugs in Maine” with Lorraine Taft, Forest Pest Outreach Coordinator for the Maine Department of Agriculture, hosted by the Midcoast Audubon Society, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.


Saturday, September 19

Camden Philosophical Society Conference, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, led by David Peloquin, “A Guided Voyage Through Moby-Dick: Philosophy, Spirituality, and Symbolism in Melville’s Epic Saga.” Registration is $30, contact peloquin.david@gmail.com.


Thursday, September 24

The Camden Conference presents “Chinese Expansion in Africa” at 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library with speaker Robert Wasserstrom. Wasserstrom will speak on “Phoenix Rising: China’s Expansion in Africa and Latin America.” The topic of this year’s Camden Conference, to be held in February, 2016, is “The New Africa.”
