Rockland, Maine - Knox County Law Enforcement, including Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Rockland, Thomaston, Rockport and Camden Police Departments are requesting the public’s help regarding burglaries at local businesses. In the last 10 days, three Knox County businesses have been burglarized in the middle of the night where safes have been broken into and thousands of dollars stolen. Law enforcement is asking business owners to make nightly deposits to help insure safe keeping of their cash. With a holiday weekend approaching, it is typical that there may be more cash on hand than normal and the thief’s are aware to take advantage of that.
If businesses are concerned for carrying cash out of the building at night, you are encouraged to contact your local law enforcement agency for an escort to your night depository.
The general public is also encouraged to call 9-1-1 for any suspicious activity, particularly in vicinity of businesses, for law enforcement to check on. Do not assume that an alarm you hear is automatically called in.
