Thomas Men's Lacrosse Falls to Lyndon, 11-4

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Thomas College men's lacrosse team fell to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in North Atlantic Conference play with an 11-4 loss to Lyndon on Saturday at Smith Field.

Lyndon (1-6, 1-3 NAC) led just 1-0 after the first quarter after an unassisted goal by Shea Jones with 11:40 to play.

The Hornets exploded for six more goals in the second quarter. Kevin McCarthy kicked off the scoring with a man-up tally just 24 seconds in. Spencer Aubin and Justin Mosher added two goals each while Ian Pelkey scored once to give Lyndon a 7-0 lead as the quarter came to a close.

The Terriers narrowly avoided being shut out in the first half as senior Bryan Ferris (Whitman, Mass.
/ Whitman-Hanson) registered an unassisted goal with just one-tenth of a second showing on the clock.

Lyndon extended the lead to 9-1 after three quarters as McCarthy and Mosher both scored with the one-man advantage.

Ferris notched an even-strength scored with 10:23 left in the game to cut the Hornet lead to 9-2 but Lyndon responded with goals from Jones and Zachary Carey to make the score 11-2.

Thomas capped the scoring with a pair of goals in the final 2:37 of the game. Sophomore Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vt. / Colchester) connected on an even-strength tally while Senior Parker Chute (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter) scored with the Terriers one man up with just over a minute to play.

Colin Young won 13 of 16 faceoffs for Lyndon, finishing with four ground balls. Brandon Hunter had a team-high six ground balls while Mosher and Chris Lowry each caused a pair of turnovers.

Shane Morin grabbed the win in goal for Lyndon, allowing just one goal and making three saves in the first half. Marcus Bessette played the entire second half, recording four saves.

Blondin had a particularly tough day in the faceoff circle, winning just four of 17 chances. He finished with just two ground balls. Senior Sheldon Jones (Lewiston, Maine / Lewiston) picked up the slack, registering a game-high 10 ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Sophomore Connor Lamberton (Shohola, Pa. / Delaware Valley) took the loss for Thomas, making 15 saves.

Thomas is off for the next week, returning to the field on April 16 when it hosts Green Mountain College at 3:30 p.m. at Smith Field.
