Mariners Fall to Pilgrims on Senior Day

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to New England College 20-1 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action.

The Pilgrims scored 11-straight goals in the first half and added nine more in the second half to claim the conference victory.

Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) scored the lone goal for the Mariners, her fifth of the season, as time expired in the first half. Mackenzie Vosburgh (Rhineback, N.Y.) and Morgan Maxwell (Windham, Maine) each caused two turnovers, Vosburgh scooped up a team-high four ground balls and Charlette Bradley (Slidell, La.) tallied three draw controls. Christina Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) stopped nine shots in net.

Tara Bainbridge and Allison Granata led the Pilgrims with five goals each, while Gabrielle Bigos recorded a hat trick and both Alana Scott and Elizabeth Bois net to goals apiece Bigos led the Pilgrims with three caused turnovers and a game-high nine draw controls. Granata tallied a game-high seven ground balls while Mackenzie Meegan earned the win in net going untested in almost 13 minutes and Emma Harvey tallied two saves in goal during the remainder of the game.

The Mariners fall to 0-14 on the season and 0-7 in the NAC, while the Pilgrims improve to 10-7 overall and 6-2 in the conference. Maine Maritime returns to action on Monday at Husson in their season finale.

In a ceremony prior to the game the Mariners honored their three seniors, Haley Eckert (Harrington, Maine), Coronado Hickman (Houston, Texas) and Rachael Redles (Coopersburg, Pa.).
