Maine Maritime Women's Lacrosse Stumbles Against Husson in Season Finale

BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to Husson University 13-3, in North Atlantic Conference action on Monday evening.

Amanda Deshaies opened up the scoring for the Eagles with an unassisted strike just 39 seconds into the game, but Rachael Redles (Coopersburg, Pa.) responded quickly on the other end, tying things at 1-1 with 27:34 to go. The Eagles scored three-straight before Briana Obshatkin (Dedham, Mass.) snuck a goal by Eagle goalkeeper Kaitlin Dolloff to close the gap to 4-2. Mariah Carrier added a goal with 5:44 to go in the half to send Husson into the intermission with a 5-2 lead.

Husson scored seven-unanswered goals to open up the second half, but Obshatkin added her second of the game with 11:26 remaining to make it 12-3. Anna Wolterbeek grabbed her first goal of the game with 5:12 to go adding to the Eagle lead. The Eagles hung on to claim the 13-3 victory.

Obshatkin led the Mariners with two goals, while scooping up a pair of ground balls and causing a turnover. Redles scooped up four ground balls and tallied a draw control along with scoring her 33rd career goal. Mackenzie Vosburgh (Rhineback, N.Y.) led the Mariners with three caused turnovers and both Coronado Hickman (Houston, Texas) and Haley Eckert (Harrington, Maine) tallied five ground balls each. Christina Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) stopped 12 shots in net.

Deshaies lead the Eagles with five goals and one assist, while Alissa Fallon dished out seven assists. Samara Oliver, Mattie Russell, Theresa Butler, Fallon and Wolterbeek had one goal apiece. Dolloff recorded seven saves in net for the Eagles.

The Mariners conclude their season with a 0-15 overall record and a 0-8 record against conference opponents, while the Eagles improve to 6-6 on the season and 4-4 in the NAC.
