LEWISTON, Maine -- Junior Maddie Inlow went 3-3 with a double but Tufts University's Cassie Ruscz hit two home runs, including a grand slam, as the visiting Jumbos defeated the Bates softball team 9-0 Friday afternoon.

Inlow (Falmouth, Maine) tallied all three of the Bobcats' hits in the game. She is now hitting an even .400 on the season and is second on the team in doubles with 10.

The Jumbos (20-7, 10-0, NESCAC) scored twice in the first inning and four times in the second to
take the early lead against Bates (3-24, 0-7, NESCAC).

Christina Raso singled to begin the game. An error and another single loaded the bases with nobody out.

Bates starter Sam Fellers '19 (Mendham, N.J) struck out Ruscz and got the next batter to hit into a fielder's choice. But with two away and the bases still loaded, Raina Galbiati singled in two runs.
The Jumbos used more two-out offense in the second inning to extend their lead to 6-0. With two away and nobody on, Raso doubled. A single and a walk loaded the bases for Ruscz who launched a grand slam to dead center, clearing the bases.

Bates pitching shut down the Jumbos for the next three innings but Tufts tallied three more runs in the sixth. Raso tripled and scored on an RBI grounder. Then Ruscz hit her second homer of the day to cap the scoring.

Inlow singled in the first, singled in the fourth, and doubled in the sixth for the Bobcats.
