Mets score late to beat Portland 3-2 Brentz 2-run double

Binghamton, NY -  Binghamton's Dominic Smith snapped a 2-2 tie with a two-out RBI single in the eighth inning, leading the B-Mets (8-9) to a 3-2 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs (6-14) on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. Portland has lost six straight games and their last seven on the road.

Akeel Morris (1-1) retired all five batters to earn his first win of the season. Binghamton starter Andrew Barbosa dominated Portland over 7.1 innings, fanning 10 batters and giving up just 3 hits.
 
Teddy Stankiewicz tossed his 4th consecutive quality for Portland, giving up two runs (one earned) over 6 IP. The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the third on a throwing error by 1B Tim Roberson.

Portland took their first lead of the night in the sixth off Barbosa. Jordan Betts led off the frame with a walk and Jose Vinicio had a bunt-single. With two outs, Bryce Brentz nailed a two-run double.

In Binghamton's half of the sixth, Kyle Johnson was hit by a pitch, stole second base, and scored from second on a ground out. Johnson started the rally in the eighth with a lead-off walk and scored the winning run.

The Sea Dogs and Binghamton Mets close out their 3-game series tonight night at NYSEG Stadium, first pitch is 6:35 PM. RHP Ty Buttrey (0-3, 4.40) makes his 4th start of the season for Portland against RHP Tyler Pill (0-2, 6.32) for the B-Mets. Pregame coverage begins on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network at 6:15 PM. Portland's next homestand begins Friday, April 29th, and runs through May 5th.
