UMaine-Farmington (5-7, 3-5 NAC) grabbed the lead just under five minutes in on a goal by Carly Raymond. Mara Balboni made it 2-0 less than eight minutes later off an assist from Raymond.
Junior Sophia LaVallee (Pawling, N.Y. / Pawling) cut into the Beaver advantage with an unassisted goal at the 4:36 mark of the first half.
UMF extended the lead to 3-1 just before halftime as Rhi Jackson converted a free-position shot with 1:12 to play in the half.
LaVallee netted her second of the game at the 26:50 mark of the second half, cutting the Beaver
advantage to one goal.
The hosts scored the next three goals as Jackson and Samantha Cross converted off assists from Raymond and Jackson converted another free-position shot to make it 6-2 with 9:01 to play.
Senior Erin Nelligan (Walpole, Mass. / Walpole) tallied her team-high-tying 21st goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Samantha Greenlaw (Windham, Maine / Windham) to cut the lead to 6-3 with 6:16 remaining, but Raymond countered with her second goal of the game with just over three minutes to play.
Greenlaw led the Terriers with four ground balls, three draw controls and four caused turnovers. Nelligan, sophomore Ashley Gooden (Lancaster, N.H. / White Mountain Regional) and senior Brittany Fox (Lovell, Maine / Fryeburg Academy) each had three ground balls, while Gooden also forced four turnovers.
Jackson and Raymond each had five ground balls, while Jackson caused a game-high nine turnovers.
The Beavers corralled 29 ground balls to Thomas' 17 and controlled nine of 12 draws. UMF was 12-of-18 on clears, while the Terriers were just 13-of-36.
The result allows the Beavers to lock up the sixth seed in the upcoming NAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament and closes the door on the Terriers' season.
