Eagles Sweep Final Two Games of Weekend Against Hornets, 6-2, 16-1

BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University baseball team finished off Lyndon State College in the final two games of a four game doubleheader weekend Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play at the Dr. John W. Winkin Complex. The Eagles (11-9, 6-2 NAC) have won their fourth straight game at home, while the Hornets (3-13, 0-4 NAC) look to bounce back after their sixth straight loss on the season.

Game 1
The Eagles came out swinging in the bottom of the first as Andrew Curran doubled to left field and a JT Whitten single brought Curran in for the early lead. Julien Boone tripled and Zach Sugar singled in the first as well.

The Hornets gave a response as Aaron Catalani, Nathan Stewart, and Ryan Cordeiro all singled in the
top of the second which cut the lead to 3-2. The Eagles scored their final three runs as Boone had a two-run RBI single brining in Whitten and Mike Wong to the home plate, while Sam Huston had an RBI single to make the final score 6-2.

For Husson Boone was 2 for 3 with a couple RBI's, while Huston was 2 for 3 with an RBI as well. Curran, Maguire, Sugar, and Whitten all tallied hits on the day. Ben Walls pitched a complete seven-inning game and was credited the win allowing six hits, two runs, and one walked batter.

For the Hornets Reece Tanguay, Devin Rollins, Catalani, each had a hit on the day while Michael Pena, and Jake Jourdain each had an RBI single in an attempt to cut the Eagle lead. Ben Rollins was credited the loss for the Hornets as he pitched 4.1 innings allowing six hits, six runs, six errors, and two walked batters.

Game 2
The two teams were battling in the first few innings, making the score a 2-1 Eagles lead, but shortly after Husson put up seven runs with five hits just in the bottom of the third inning alone. Sugar and Huston all had RBI singles, while Christian Corneil had a triple in left field to bring in two runs for the Eagles as well.

Lyndon was silent for the rest of the innings as they could not come up with an answer as they were down 12-1 after five complete. In the bottom of the sixth, Husson put the final four runs on the board from a Ryan Rebar RBI single, while Dylan Graffam had a two-run RBI triple making the final score 16-2 in favor of the Eagles.

Ryan Allender was credited the win on the day as he pitched four innings and allowed four hits, one run and walked one batter.

For the Hornets, John Boulay pitched 2.1 innings and allowed two hits, five runs, five errors, and two batters walked. Mike Raimondi gave up four hits, four runs while Shane LaCroix gave up five hits, four runs and a walked batter.

 Lyndon State will travel to New England College on Monday, April 11 for a double header conference matchup with a start time of 2:00 p.m. Husson will be back in action at Southern Maine on Tuesday, April 12 for a start time of 3:30 p.m.. The Eagles will then head to Maine-Farmington for a double header conference matchup Wednesday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m.
