The day will be an adventure, including challenges to push your mind and body in a race against the clock, while testing your nature knowledge, wilderness skills, and problem-solving abilities. If you can walk or jog for 3.1 miles, you can do this fun event, making it suitable for adults and children of all ages. So far, this year’s registrants range in age from 3 to 60! Last year’s challenge stations included smoke signals, weaving, and nature trivia.

"We like all of the challenges,” said Barbara Maxfield of Durham, who participated last year. “We are looking forward to seeing what the race throws at us this year, but if you can bring one challenge back...my vote is fire. Talk about a skill that I might be able to apply somewhere, someday."
All team and individual registrants receive an organic tee shirt and members of the first team across the finish line will each earn $25 gift cards towards running shoes at Lamey Wellehan. NRCM mugs and organic tote bags stuffed with books by Maine authors also go to those who reach fundraising goals.

This event is made possible by the generous business sponsorship of Atlee Gleaton EyeCare, The Breathable Home, Cribstone Capital Management, Dirigo Capital Advors LLC, Kennebec Savings Bank, The Milkhouse, Lamey Wellehan, Tilbury House Publishers, SunriseGuide, Lakers Timing and Meet Management, and Maine Primitive Skills School.
