Husson to Play Green Mountain in First Round of NAC Tournament

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's lacrosse team will host Green Mountain in the first round of the North Atlantic Conference Tournament on Friday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Boucher Field.

Castleton has earned the top seed in the 2016 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, which begins with quarterfinal round games on both Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30.

The Spartans (10-5 overall) claimed the top seed in the conference tournament after posting a perfect 8-0 record in NAC play. Top-seeded Castleton and second-seeded Colby-Sawyer (11-6 overall, 7-1 NAC) will receive byes in the tournament's quarterfinal round.

New England College (10-7, 6-2) claimed the No. 3 seed, while Husson (6-6, 5-3), Green Mountain (5-8, 4-4), and the University of Maine at Farmington (5-7, 3-5) earned the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 seeds respectively to complete the six-team tournament field.

Fourth-seeded Husson will host fifth-seeded Green Mountain on Friday, April 29, while third-seeded NEC will host sixth-seeded UMaine-Farmington on Saturday, April 30. Both game times are to be determined.

Winners of the two quarterfinal matches will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on both Sunday, May 1, and Monday, May 2. The top-seeded Spartans will host the winner of the Green Mountain vs. Husson quarterfinal on Sunday, May 1, while the second-seeded Chargers will host the winner of the UMaine-Farmington vs. New England College quarterfinal on Monday, May 2. Both game times are to be determined.

Tournament action culminates with the NAC Championship game on Saturday, May 7, at the highest remaining seed.

The NAC tournament champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship.
