“Vernal Pools Ecology,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, hosted by Coastal Mountains Land Trust. Kris Hoffman, educator and UMO Ph.D. student, will explain the ecology of Maine’s vernal pools and how we regulate the most productive pools.

Midcoast Stroke Support Group, 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library. The group welcomes survivors, family, and friends of stroke survivors, or anyone faced with a neurological challenge.

Charlie King is the featured performer at the Camden Library Coffeehouse, 7:00 pm; $7 admission. Charlie King is a musical storyteller and political satirist who he has been at the heart of American folk music for half a century. “One of the finest singers and songwriters of our time,” said Pete Seeger.

Gallery reception for the Camden Public Library’s May Artist of the Month, Belfast artist Jon Byrer, 2:00 pm in the Jean Picker Room Gallery. Byrer’s “Marbled Landscapes” are bold, colorful, joyous, and fluid. He creates enamel oil paintings, experimental photography, and watercolor illustrations.

May is Lyme Disease Awareness month, and the Library will again host Lyme disease specialist Dr. Bea Szantyr with a very informative look at ticks, the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi which causes Lyme disease, the incidence of Lyme disease in Maine, the difficulties of medical diagnosis, and steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.
