Hartford Pitching Shuts Down Sea Dogs, 2-0

Yard Goats Win Series Opener
Portland, Maine - The Hartford Yard Goats (11-4) used a strong start for Harrison Musgrave and solid relief pitching to shutout the Sea Dogs (6-9) 2-0 in game one of their series Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Hartford was the home team as the series was originally scheduled to be played in Hartford, but had to be moved to Portland due to stadium delays at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

Musgrave (W, 2-0) beat the Sea Dogs for the second time in six days, allowing just four hits in 6.2 scoreless innings, walking two and striking out two. Matt Pierpont worked a scoreless inning of relief, and Matt Carasiti closed out the final 1.1 innings to earn his league-leading fifth save of the season.

Hartford won the game despite being outhit 8-2. Ty Buttrey (4.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 SO) was saddled with the loss, Rob Wort worked 2.1 innings and retired all seven batters he faced, and Simon Mercedes pitched a scoreless eighth for Portland.

The teams meet for a scheduled doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at Hadlock Field, first pitch in game one is scheduled for 1:00 PM. RHP Heri Quevedo (0-1, 2.57) starts game one for the Sea Dogs against LHP Kyle Freeland (2-1, 1.54) for Hartford.
