Corbo Records 100th Career Goal as Eagles Cruse Past Beavers

FARMINGTON, Maine – Brandon Corbo scores a game-high four goals, including his 100th career goal to help lead the Husson University men's lacrosse team to a 18-4 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win over the University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday afternoon at Prescott Field.

Corbo became the third Eagle player in program history with 100 goals when he netted the opening goal of game at the 10:58 mark.

Husson (3-5, 3-0 NAC) extends their winning streak to three games while University of Maine at Farmington (0-6, 0-3 NAC) drops their third consecutive game to the Eagles and falls to 1-7 in the all-time series.

The Beavers played defense for most of the opening half, but only trailed 4-0 after the opening period as Husson received two goals from Corbo, a goal from Vinny Visconti and a Beaver own goal. After Jack White and Brooks Gay added goals to start the second quarter, Travis St. Pierre got UMF on the scoreboard just under the nine-minute mark.

The Beavers drew an Eagles penalty and cashed in. Cameron McAllister passed off to his left to a
wide-open St. Pierre, who with two steps fired a laser into the net for his seventh goal of the season.

The Eagles scored two late goals from Visconti and Trent Sell making the game 8-1 going into the intermisson.

Justin Roberge tallied UMF's first goal of the second half with 12:26 remaining in the third quarter after Corbo scored his third of game 16 seconds into the period. Roberge battled through the long sticks of Husson defenders and lined a shot into the back of the cage as Husson lead 9-2. The Eagles recieved two goals from Sell and Gay, while Corbo added his fourth as Husson lead 15-2 at the end of the third.

St. Pierre came through with his second goal of the game to open the fourth quarter.  St. Pierre started the scoring attack behind the Eagles' goal and ran back in front of the net give himself a better angle. On the shot, St. Pierre came with an over-the-top shot for the score while getting knocked to the ground by the Eagles' defense.

McAllister registered a goal of his own with 10:22 left in the game after Chad Merrill and Rich Gardner made the game 17-3. The senior finally had some luck go his way as four of his seven shots on clanked off the goal post, but his sixth shot of the afternoon found nothing but net.  Brandon Bosse scored the Eagles 18th goal of game with 3:16 remaining. The Eagles held UMF scoreless for the remaining of the game for the 18-4 victory.

Caleb Carrmade 17 saves for UMF, including a busy third quarter with seven stops while St. Pierre scored a pair of goals.

Corbo charted his four goals on eight shots as Sell and Gay added three goals apiece, while Nick Zavorotny (1-1) and Matt Martin each played half making five total saves.

UMaine-Farmington starts the first game of a three-game conference road trip on Saturday at Green Mountain while Husson host Castleton for a 1 p.m. conference game at Boucher Field.
