The Mules, who have won five straight games, moved to 6-1 overall
and 4-1 in conference play.
Wesleyan, which dropped to 3-5 overall and
0-4 in the league, is led by former Colby assistant coach Kim Williams.
Colby heads to Wellesley College for a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
Lexie Perticone scored two goals and dished an assist for Colby.
Emilie Klein also had two goals and teammates Maddie Hatch, McGara
DeWan, and Abby Hooper had one goal. Hooper and Kendall Smith both had
assists.
The first half was tight, with the Mules taking a 3-2 lead into
intermission. Perticone scored from Hooper 6:31 into the game, but
Wesleyan answered when Rachel Aronow scored unassisted with 17:59 to the
break. Colby received back-to-back unassisted goals from Hatch and
Peticone to go up 3-1. Meredith Smith scored on a free-position shot for
Wesleyan with 4:43 remaining.
Klein scored the key fourth goal for Colby at 6:53 of the second
half to give the Mules some breathing room at 4-2. Hooper scored from
Perticone with 15:10 left for a three-goal margin. Klein and DeWan
scored 1:12 apart to push the lead to 7-2.
Klein and Emma Marjollet both had two ground balls and one caused
turnover. Izzy Scribano stopped six shots for the victory in goal.
