NEW LONDON, N.H. – Maine Maritime Academy women's lacrosse fell to
Colby-Sawyer College, 17-1 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on
Saturday afternoon.
Sierra James (Campton, N.H.) registered the lone goal for the Mariners. James played the first 23:07 in the field and then relieved Christina Wilson
(East Granby, Conn.) in net for the remainder of the game. James made
11 saves, while Wilson stopped 10 shots. Wilson led the Mariners with
three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Chargers were led by Caitlyn Whearty's five goals and three
ground balls. Nicole Lavigne added four goals, two assists, and seven
draw controls. Stevie Klein recorded her first collegiate goal and
finished with a hat-trick. Shannon Green chipped in with a goal and an
assist. Meghan Castellano recorded the win in net for the Chargers with five saves.
Maine Maritime falls to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference,
while the Chargers even their record to 4-4 overall and 3-0 in the NAC.
The Mariners play Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Wednesday evening at Deering Memorial Stadium.
