Colby Women’s crew sweeps three races at Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. — The Colby College women’s varsity 8 finished in first place in a tri-meet with Coast Guard Academy and University of Massachusetts at Lowell on the Merrimack River on Saturday.

Colby had a convincing win with a time of 6 minutes, 47.2 seconds to defeat second place Coast Guard (6:59.8) and third place UMass-Lowell (7:04.7).

The women’s varsity eight included: Eliza Gesten (coxswain), Elli Mapstone (8 position), Sophie Suechting (7), Emily Muller (6), Sarah Lane-Reticker (5), Emma Bartlett (4), Sophie Bartels (3), Katrinia Chicojay Moore (2), and Bobbi Alman (1).

Colby’s second varsity 8 took a head-to-head win over Coast Guard with Renata Levine (coxswain), Ellie Krossa (8), Ling MacLean (7), Erica Lehner (6), Anya Paradua (5), Alex Lucas (4), Kate Blauer (3), Katy Donchik (2), and Maddie Andrews (1) in the boat with a time of 6:52.7. Coast Guard was about 14 seconds back in 7:06.0.

Colby’s novice four boat clocked a 7:59.1 to win a dual with UMass-Lowell (8:11.2). Anita Guaman (coxswain), Andie Velazquez (4), Alison Obstler (3), Sarah Rossien (2), and Sammy Attia (1) were in the boat.
