Bowdoin Men's Lacrosse Clamps Down Conn. College To Extend Winning Streak

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team stifled Connecticut College on Saturday, 9-5, to extend its winning streak to nine games.

The Polar Bears (9-1, 6-1 NESCAC), ranked 13th in the latest Division III poll, held the Camels to just two goals in the second half in the win. Conn. College falls to 6-5 (2-4 NESCAC) with the loss.

Game Highlights
  • After allowing the first goal of the game, Bowdoin scored three of the next four goals, including two from Daniel Buckman, to lead 4-3 after one period
  • The Camels tied the game early in the second quarter but a goal by Matthew Crowell gave Bowdoin a 4-3 edge at the break
  • Bowdoin out-scored the hosts 2-1 in the third period to carry a 6-4 lead into the final period
  • The Polar Bears put the game on ice with consecutive scores from Brett Kujala and Brandon Lee to open the final frame, pushing the lead to 8-4 with under nine minutes to go

  • Shawn Daly sparked the Bowdoin offensive with a goal and four assists in the victory
  • Kujala led all players with a hat trick while Buckman ended with two scores
  • Bowdoin's defense was the story as Peter Mumford was outstanding again with 16 saves. Andrew Cowan led the defensive corps with a pair of caused turnovers
