MMA Pulls Away from UMF Despite Close First Half

CASTINE, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington men's lacrosse (0-9, 0-6) kept the game close in the first half but ultimately fell in the end at Maine Maritime Academy (4-8, 4-2) on Tuesday night with a 15-3 North Atlantic Conference loss.

The Beavers' defense kept the game close and only trailed 3-0 after the opening quarter. MMA scored two quick ones to open the second quarter before Justin Roberge (Sanford, Maine/Sanford) got the Beavers on the scoreboard. Roberge added the unassisted goal with six minutes remaining in the half and at the break, UMF only trailed 6-1.

Casey Wrigley (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) tallied a pair of goals in the third quarter, but the second half belonged to the Mariners, who tacked on nine more scores in the final 30 minutes.
Caleb Carr (Augusta, Maine/Cony) recorded 13 saves for UMF in net.

Maine Maritime had five goals come from Dean Samuelson, who also dished two assists. Jacob Randeau contributed four goals and one assist for the Mariners.

UMaine-Farmington hosts Lyndon State on Saturday at Prescott Field.
