Maine Maritime Cruises Past UMF

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse cruised to a 15-3 North Atlantic Conference win over the University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday night.

The Mariners held the Beavers scoreless until Justin Roberge put UMF on the board at 6:04 in the second quarter, to cut the lead to 5-1. Alec Grant (Hollis, N.H.) added a goal in the final three minutes of the quarter to make it 6-1 heading into the intermission.

Dean Samuelson (Southbury, Conn.) scored back-to-back goals to open up the second half, followed
by a goal from Tim Grant (East Northport, N.Y.) to set up a six-goal third quarter for the Mariners. The Mariners held UMF scoreless in the final quarter en route to the 15-3 victory.

Samuelson ended the night with five goals, two assists and eight ground balls, while Jacob Rondeau (Richmond, R.I.) scored a career-high four goals, dishing out an assist and Tim Grant tallied two goals, a team-high nine ground balls, going 10-of-14 on the faceoff.

Michael Dedian (Scarborough, Maine) led the Mariners with four caused turnovers and scooped up six ground balls and Cody Schell (Pasadena, Md.) tallied eight saves in net.

Casey Wrigley led the Beavers with two goals, Ray Swaby, Isaac Wright, Wesley McKenna and Sean Zubrod each scooped up four ground balls and Caleb Carr tallied 13 saves in net, in the loss.

The Mariners improve to 4-8 overall and 4-2 in the conference, while the Beavers fall to 0-9 on the season and 0-6 in the NAC. Maine Maritime hosts New England College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m,. on Senior Day.
