Rockland, Maine - The Maine Lobster Festival Corporation was honored to support Oceanside High School’s Travel Club with a $350 donation in March. The Travel Club, led by Spanish teacher Gretchen Jordan, will visit Salamanca, Spain, a city west of Madrid, later month.
The students will visit Salamanca for two weeks in early April. They will stay with host families in the area, and will take four hours of Spanish every morning. Each student paid their own way for this trip, but the Maine Lobster Festival’s donation will help them see the sights in the local area. The club also plans to visit with Samantha Greer Dienesch-Calamari, an Oceanside High School alumna and the Maine Lobster Festival’s 2014 Crown Princess. Samantha is currently studying abroad in Salamanca.
The Maine Lobster Festival’s donation to OHS’s Travel Club was presented at the board of directors’ meeting on March 29. Jordan, along with students Amber Johnston, Jeanna Fagundo, Mackenzie Mauray, Cassidy Boynton, and Gabrielle Simmons also attended to accept the donation on behalf of the club. Vice President Celia Knight presented the check to them.
