DEVELOPING: Dangerous Temperatures Expected Later This Week


DEVELOPING: Maine -
Dangerous temperatures expected later this week with extreme heat watches posted for Southern Oxford, Southern Franklin, Interior York, Central Interior Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec, Coastal York, Coastal Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln and Interior Cumberland for Wednesday through Friday evening.


Temperatures are expected to reach around 110 degrees in the

watch area due to the heat index with 70s at night.


No alerts for eastern Maine including Knox County when this article is posted.


Impacts will be heat related illnesses that increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.


National Weather Services out of Gray, Maine lists these as precautionary and preparedness actions.


Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
