Husson (5-17, 1-3 NAC) dropped their third straight conference game, while Thomas (6-12, 1-0 NAC) sweeps the Eagles for the first time since 2008 and approves to 26-52 in the all-time series.
GAME 1: Thomas 2, Husson 0
Thomas wasted no time securing the lead with a single run in the top of the second off a delayed
double steal by Jordanna Agger and Sonja Morse (7-3). Morse crossed the plate before the Eagles could tag out Agger in a run down.
A RBI single through the left side by Michaella Arsenault extended the Terrier lead to 2-0 in the seventh and Morse would retire the Eagles in order in the bottom half of the inning giving Thomas the victory in game one.
Sami Cyr became the 25th Eagle player in program history to achieve 100 career hits when she singled in the fifth.
Lyndsay Merrill, Cyr and Brianna Bires each had a hit for the Eagles. Alannah Healy (4-11) took the loss inside the circle allowing two earned runs off four hits with two walks and six punch-outs over 7.0 innings.
Agger went 2-for-3 and Arsenault, Lyndsy Hoopingarner added a single for the Terriers. Morse threw a complete game three-hit shutout to pick up the win inside the circle while walking three and fanning ten.
GAME 2: Thomas 3, Husson 2
Hoppingarner's single through the left side drove in Morse with one out in the fourth before Molly Carroll doubled home Hoopingarner and Randi Dennett to give the Terriers the 3-0 lead.
Husson cut the deficit to one with an RBI single by Cyr followed by a Terrier miscue by second baseman Cassie Contigiani allowing Nicole Andrade to score the Eagles' second run of the game in the bottom of the sixth.
The Eagles got the tying run on base in the bottom of seventh when Merrill singled to left field with one out but Morse would get Casey Lopes to hit into a game ending double play.
Merrill and Lopes each 2-for-4 for the Eagles while Merrill and Kristen Chipman added a doubles. Singles by Andrade and Cyr accounted for the two other Husson hits in the setback. Healy took the loss after allowing six hits, three earned runs over 4.0 innings with two punch-outs. Olivia Smith pitched 3.0 innings of shutout relief allowing just three hits while walking one and fanning one.
Hoopingarner went 2-for-3 with a run, and a RBI and Carroll was 2-for-3 with a two-bagger and two RBI to lead the Terriers. Lexi Colpacks had two hits while Morse, Korrie Laren and Courtney Veilleux each added a hit apiece for Thomas. Morse picked up the win once again inside in the circle after yielding two runs (one earned) off seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts over 7.0 innings.
Husson returns to action on Saturday traveling to Johnson, Vt., for a NAC doubleheader with Johnson State. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thomas continues NAC play on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Castleton.
