Bowdoin Women's Tennis Sweeps Doubles En Route to 8-1 Decision Against MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win in its first East Coast match of the 2016 season on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016.

The fourth ranked Polar Bears are 7-1 on the season and swept doubles play to take an early lead on the 17th ranked Engineers.

Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears took 8-4 and 8-3 wins at two and three doubles respectively. Joulia Likhanskaia and Tiffany Cheng fought for an 8-6 win at number one to go up 3-0.
  • Likhanskaia played the lone three-set match of the day at number one singles, winning 6-3, 3-6, 11-9.
  • Tess Trinka earned a point for the Polar Bears in the three spot with a 6-1 6-4 straight set victory.
  • Kyra Silitch (6-4, 6-0) and Maddie Rolph (6-3, 6-1) quickly dispatched their opponents at numbers four and five respectively.
  • Samantha Stalder dug out a 7-5 first set victory before shutting down her MIT challenger 6-0 in the second at six singles.
