Lupone took a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine)
to help new head coach Jason Cohen win his first match at Colby (1-0
overall).
Gabriela Venditti (Mercer Island, Wash.) and Lydia Venditti (Mercer
Island, Wash.) won three Washington state titles in doubles in high
school. The twins had a successful Colby debut with an 8-0 victory over
Allen and Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine).
Colby won the rest of the singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Katie
Ryan (Falmouth, Maine), Holly Bogo (East Grand Rapids, Mich.), Jamie
Pine (Providence, R.I.), Aleks Piibe (El Segundo, Calif.), and Olivia
Stein (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) were winners. Pine and Piibe earned their
first collegiate victories.
Bogo and Stein combined to win at second doubles by an 8-0 score, while Lupone and Ryan were 8-0 winners at third doubles.
Colby is off until the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)
Tournament at Middlebury College from Friday to Sunday, Sept. 25-27.
