Rockland, Maine - The Maine Lobster Festival is looking for amateur chefs to compete in its annual Seafood Cooking Contest, Friday, August 5, 2022.
Amateur
chefs as young as 18 years old are invited to apply for a chance to
compete for $525 in prize money. First place will receive $200, second
place will receive $175, and third place will receive $150. Recipes can
be any dish they choose but must contain seafood found in Maine waters.
Judges will select the winner based on creativity, how prominently
seafood is featured in the recipe, and the simplicity of the dish.
Applications are due by July 15, 2022. Five contestants will be chosen.

The
Seafood Cooking Contest will be held in the North Entertainment Tent on
the Festival grounds, Friday, August 5 at 9:00 a.m. and judging will
begin at 11:30 a.m. Winners and prizes will be announced and awarded at
12:30 p.m. The audience will have the opportunity to sample the prepared
recipes in the cooking area and pick up the contestants’ recipes after
the awards are presented. The event will be covered by several print and
broadcast media channels both nationally and internationally.
