BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime men's soccer fell to Castleton 2-0, on Friday night at Husson University in non-conference action.
The two teams remained scoreless until Jake Teitgens put the Spartans ahead in the 43rd minute when he placed a ball in the bottom right corner of the net, on a cross from teammate Steven Koenemann.
Castleton extended their lead in the 67th minute when Cameron Rossi-Crete beat Mariner goalkeeper Joshua Reeks(Bedford, N.H.) high, on an unassisted effort.
Amir Passic recorded three saves in net for the Spartans who improve to 2-2 overall, while Reeks and Marshall Spear (Rockport, Maine) combined for six saves.
The Mariners (1-4) will play host Husson University tomorrow at 7:30 p.m., in day two of the Adidas Challenge Cup.
