Mattos kicked off the game scoring in the eighth minute, with Bell claiming the assist, but the host-Owls responded just over eight minutes later when Sean Borbosa scored off a Derek Healy feed. Freshman midfielder Jeremy Caruso (Pembroke, N.H.) netted the eventual game-winner at the 39:07 mark and Bell was credited with an assist on the clincher.
With 52 seconds left in the first half, Mattos added his second marker of the day off a Caruso dish and first-year forward Tyler St. Pierre (Gray, Maine) potted his first collegiate goal, an unassisted tally, at the 52:36 mark, capping the scoring ledger with the Monks firmly in the lead, 4-1.
In goal, freshman Zack Moody (Steep Falls, Maine) collected his first NCAA win after making three saves in his first career start. UMPI keepers Caleb Bragg-Grady (73:40) and Matthew Manter (16:20) shared time in goal and combined to make 13 saves in the losing effort.
Overall, Saint Joseph's held decided advantages in both shots (28-14) and corner kicks (12-2) in the triumph.
Saint Joseph's returns to action tomorrow with a 12:00 PM conference contest at home versus Anna Maria College.
- With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 14-10-1 all-time versus Presque Isle and has now defeated the Owls in five-consecutive meetings

- Anna Maria enters tomorrow's contest with an 0-5-1 record, including an 0-2 mark in GNAC play
- The AMCATS fell to Mass.-Maritime, 2-0, in their last game, which was played on their home turf on Wednesday
