Allison Ward Named Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week

Gorham, Maine - Senior Allison Ward (Rockland, Maine/Oceanside) of the Univerity of Southern Maine Huskies' field hockey team was named the Little East Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.  Ward earns the first weekly accolade from the conference office for the 2015 season.

Ward was the Huskies' offensive spark for Southern Maine, scoring half of her team's goals, in a 2-1 opening week with wins over Thomas College and SUNY-Brockport.  In the Huskies' 2-1 season-opening win, Ward notched the first goal of the 2015 season just 48 seconds into the contest.  In a 4-0 shutout victory over SUNY-Brockport, Ward scored a goal in each half, including the eventual game-winner.

One of the Huskies' three captains, Ward was a first team All-Little East Conference selection at midfield in 2014.  Ward has three goals for six points through three games this season, including one game-winning goal.  In her career, Ward has 16 goals and four assist for 36 points.

Southern Maine, 2-1, hosts UMaine Farmington in its home-opener on Wednesday (4:00 p.m.) on Hannaford Field.
