UMF Cruises Past MMA Behind Raymond’s Career Night

CASTINE, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse (4-6, 2-4) rolled to a 13-5 North Atlantic Conference win on Tuesday night at Maine Maritime Academy (0-13, 0-6) behind a career-high from sophomore Carly Raymond (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Aratat).

Raymond set a new career-high with four goals and contributed two assists to lead the Beavers. The scoring came from all angles tonight as Sierra Gilley (Harspwell, Maine/Mt. Aratat) and Jaclyn Langevin (Bow, N.H./Bow) added three goals apiece. Alaina Shorey (Lebanon, Maine/Noble) and Danielle Conway (Lakeville, Mass./Aponnequet Regional) contributed goals for UMF as well.
Alyssa Arsenault (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) earned the win and saved a shot in the first half. Conway came in for the second half to close the door on MMA.

The Mariners had three goals come from Rachael Redles. Christina Wilson and Sierra James added scores for MMA.

UMF surrendered the first two goals of the game but picked up the tempo from there. The Beavers strung together eight of the next ten goals in the half to take a 8-4 lead into the locker room. In the second half, it was all Beavers with five unanswered goals before the Mariners scored on a free-position shot with four ticks left on the clock.

UMaine-Farmington returns home on Saturday to host Colby-Sawyer.
