UMF Baseball Erupts in Doubleheader Sweep of Lyndon

FARMINGTON, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington baseball (10-10, 3-7) came alive at the plate with 28 runs in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep of Lyndon State (4-18, 1-9) on Saturday afternoon at Hippach Field. The Beavers took the first game 16-5 and 12-2 in the second game.

UMF used seven runs in the first two innings of the first game to build some momentum. After
Lyndon answered with three runs in the third inning, the Beavers came back with nine runs in the fourth inning.

Nate Pushard (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) had a solid outing on the hill in six innings of work. The sophomore surrendered four earned runs and fanned four Hornets.

In the second game, UMF used the early innings to generate a lead again by scoring six runs in the first two innings at the plate. The Beavers added one more run in the third inning before posting a five-run fourth inning on five hits.

Riley Chickering (Otisfield, Maine/Oxford) earned the win for UMF in the second game. Chickering pitched six innings while yielding one earned run on four hits and struck out three Hornets.

The Beavers belted 27 hits on the afternoon, including three home runs from Tom Grady (Whitefield, Maine/Erskine Academy), Ben Keene (Livermore, Maine/Spruce Mountain), and Chad Snowman (Dixfield, Maine/Dirigo), who finished the second game 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Grady was 5-for-7 at the plate today with a home run, double, six RBI, and four runs scored. Jimmy Neal (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) was 4-for-4 with four RBI and four runs scored.
