Sixth Inning Run Sinks Bowdoin Baseball in NESCAC Opener at Trinity

Harry Ridge allowed just two hits in eight innings of work
HARTFORD, Conn. – A Trinity run in the sixth inning pushed the Bantams ahead for good as the Bowdoin baseball team suffered a NESCAC opening 4-3 loss on Friday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (8-4, 0-1 NESCAC) evened the game in the top of the second but were unable to put any more runs on the board as Trinity (6-9, 1-0 NESCAC) forced seven consecutive shutout innings.

Game Highlights

Evann Dumont-LaPointe quickly followed with a bases-loaded walk, sending Brandon Lopez home. Sean Mullaney drove in Bowdoin's third consecutive run with a sacrifice fly to left.
  • Harry Ridge retired the Trinity side in order for four straight innings before the Bantams scored the game-winning run off an RBI single by Brendan Peirce.
  • Bowdoin had runners on first and second with one out in the final inning, but Pidgeon took the mound for Trinity to earn the save.
