The ten-year agreement will keep the Red Sox affiliation in Portland at least through the 2030 season.

Binghamton, NY - The Portland Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies were postponed on Friday night due to rain. The two teams will make the game up as part of a 7-inning doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 1:05 PM.

Portland has RHP Denyi Reyes and RHP Tanner Houck starting the twinbill. Binghamton counters with RHP Harol Gonzalez (1-0, 3.24) and LHP Anthony Key (1-1, 1.89).

Friday was Portland's first postponement on the road and their fifth overall.

Binghamton, NY - Kyle Hart (6.2 IP), Daniel McGrath (1.1 IP), and Adam Lau (1 IP) combined to no-hit the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (9-6), as the Portland Sea Dogs (5-11) won the road trip opener, 2-0, Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium.

The no-hitter was the fourth in team history:

Hart (1-3) allowed one walk, two hit batters, and fanned six over his 6.2 IP. The win was his first of the season in his fourth start. McGrath (hold #1) retired all four batters faced, stranding a runner at third base to end the seventh. Lau (save #1) gave up a one-out walk to Sam Haggerty but fanned Andrew Gimenez, and got Mike Paez on a fly out to RF Aneury Tavarez to end the game.

The Sea Dogs cracked the ice in the seventh inning off losing pitcher Mike Gibbons (2-2). Bobby Dalbec (2-for-4) singled, advanced to second base on a wild pitch, and scored on a single from Luke Tendler. In the ninth, Tender's sacrifice fly scored Dalbec, who advanced on two wild pitches.

Tate Matheny went 3-for-4, and Jhon Nunez added two hits for the Sea Dogs. The 9-inning no-hitter was the first as a Red Sox affiliate.

Sea Dogs Announce Makeup Games for April 9th & 10th Postponements

Doubleheaders scheduled for May 5th and July 11th

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs have rescheduled the games from April 9th and 10th against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies that were postponed due to weather. The April 9th game will be made-up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday, May 5th at 1:00 PM. While the April 10th postponed game will be made-up as a doubleheader on Thursday, July 11th at 5:00 PM.

Both doubleheaders will be single-admission doubleheaders consisting of two seven-inning games. Please note to accommodate the doubleheader on July 11th, the game time has been changed from a 7:00 PM start to a 5:00 PM start.

Tickets for any of the postponed games can be exchanged for tickets of equal or lesser value to any remaining 2019 Sea Dogs home game, based upon availability. Fans with questions regarding tickets may contact the Sea Dogs ticket office at 207-879-9500 or email at tickets@seadogs.com.

Strong outing by Rodriguez, 'Dogs beat the 'Cats 4-3

Portland, Maine - Eduardo Rodriguez allowed just one hit and struck out eight in four innings and the Sea Dogs (54-70) defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (69-54) 4-3 on Monday night at Hadlock Field.

Making an MLB rehab appearance for Portland, Rodriguez allowed just three baserunners - a double to Jon Berti on a 3-0 pitch and a pair of walks to go along with his eight strikeouts.  The lefty threw 63 pitches (39 strikes).

Aaron Sanchez was also making an MLB rehab appearance and started the game for New Hampshire.  Sanchez allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in 4.1 innings. He walked four and struck out four.

Portland plated the game's first run in the second inning when Jhon Nunez scored on a passed ball by catcher Patrick Cantwell.

The Sea Dogs added three more runs in the fourth off Sanchez on a pair of walks, a two-run double by Jeremy Rivera and an RBI single by Chad De La Guerra.

Rivera reached base four times with a single, double, and two walks.

New Hampshire began chipping away at the Sea Dogs' leadoff of Dedgar Jimenez, scoring a run in the fifth and sixth on RBI base hits from Bo Bichette and Santiago Espinal.

Bichette picked up his third hit and second RBI with a two-out single in the ninth to score Juan Kelly and make it 4-3 Portland.

Jimenez (8-7) earned the victory by pitching the final five innings in a piggyback start. Jimenez allowed two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out four. Jimenez struck out Forrest Wall with the tying run on first to end the ballgame.

The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) close out a two-game series on Tuesday night beginning at 6:00 PM from Hadlock Field. LHP Daniel McGrath (2-3, 3.59) takes on RHP T.J. Hart dominates in 5-1 win against Bowie, Recent Games Results

Luke Tendler 2-for-2, 3 RBI/Ockimey eighth homer

Portland, Maine - Kyle Hart held the Bowie Baysox (26-29) to just one run over seven innings and the Sea Dogs (21-36) took the middle game of the three game series 5-1 on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.

Hart (W, 4-3) worked his fourth straight quality start and lowered his season ERA to 2.81 in the process.  The southpaw allowed five hits while walking one.

The Sea Dogs took a 2-0 lead early on a two-run double by Luke Tendler off of Lucas Long (L, 1-6).  Tender hit a sac fly in the fourth and doubled again in the seventh and finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Josh Ockimey hit his eighth homer of the season to lead off the fourth off of Long.  Ockimey also doubled, walked, and scored twice.

Long allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits in 6.1 innings, he walked two and struck out two.

'Dogs score all 12 runs in last four innings, Tender game-winning homer

Altoona, Pa. - Two days ago in Reading, the Sea Dogs could not hold onto a 7-0. On Thursday night in Altoona, trailing 7-0 after five innings, the Portland Sea Dogs (14-24) scored 12 runs in the last four innings and beat the Curve (19-17), 12-9 in 10 innings.

With two outs in the tenth inning, Luke Tendler clocked a three-run homer over the right-field wall for the game-wall for the game-winning hit. Tendler finished 3-for-6, picking up his fourth homer of the year. Previous to Tender's at-bat, winning pitcher Trevor Kelley (1-2) hit for himself and struck out.

Kelley worked out of a bases-loaded-one-out jam in the 10th inning to secure his first win of the season.

Altoona built a 7-0 lead against Kevin McAvoy and Trey Ball. The Curve scored five times in the fifth inning, and the big hit was a two-run double by Jhin-De Jhang.

Portland chipped away in the seventh inning with the first three hitters delivering singles. Jantzen Witte (3-for-6) knocked home two runs with a single.

In the eighth inning, the 'Dogs did the same thing, picking up three straight hits. Chad De La Guerra and Jhon Nunez delivered run-scoring fielder's choices. Witte nailed an RBI single to right field.

The complete comeback began in the ninth inning. Nunez provided another RBI, and Danny Mars gave Portland the lead with a two-run single. De La Guerra added the ninth run with a run-scoring single.

In the ninth inning, Altoona tied the game on a ground-rule double by Logan Hill.

Portland scored 12 runs on 13 hits in the last four innings, and are now hitting .261, raising their batting average 30 points since May 8.

Portland and the Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate) continue their four-game series on Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Right-hander Travis Lakins (0-1, 3.18) makes his fifth start of the season. Altoona counters with Dario Agrazal (3-0, 1.30). First pitch from Altoona is 6:00 PM. Portland, Maine - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (15-17) ended the Sea Dogs' (11-20) four-game win streak with a 5-1 win on Friday night at Hadlock Field.  The win for Binghamton ended their four-game losing streak as well.

Andrew Church (W, 1-4) gave the Rumble Ponies 6.1 scoreless innings in his start, he walked one and struck out six.

Binghamton scored the game's first run after loading the bases with nobody out in the fifth inning off of Kyle Hart (L, 1-3).  Hart walked Patrick Mazeika to force in a run, but then struck out Matt Oberste and induced a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.

The Ponies added a run off of Trey Ball in the seventh on an RBI single by Mazeika to score Levi Michael.  Binghamton iced it in the eighth with a three-run double by Jeff McNeil off of Trey Ball.

Hart posted a quality start despite getting the loss.  The lefty allowed just one run on five hits over six innings. He walked five and struck out five.

The Sea Dogs' lone run was scored on an RBI triple by Chad De La Guerra in the bottom of the eighth off of Joshua Torres.

Portland, Maine - The Sea Dogs (11-19) swept the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (14-16) in a doubleheader at Hadlock Field on Thursday night, winning both games by a score of 7-2.  Portland has won a season-high four straight games.

Game 1 Recap

The Sea Dogs scored three runs with two outs in the first inning and took game one 7-2.

Portland pounded 13 hits over six innings, including two triples and three RBIs by Tate Matheny, and two hits apiece for Danny Mars, Cole Sturgeon, and Luke Tendler.

Matt Kent (W, 1-1) was terrific in a spot start.  The lefty worked five scoreless innings and allowed only two hits while striking out seven.

Tyler Thornburg made another relief appearance for Portland as he continued his Major League Rehab Assignment and allowed two runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning.

Joseph Shaw (L, 0-3) allowed seven runs on 12 hits over 4.2 innings in the start for Binghamton.

Game 2 Recap

Dedgar Jimenez threw a complete-game two-hitter as the Sea Dogs took game two 7-2.

Jimenez (W, 1-2) struck out a career-high nine in the victory and walked just one while hitting a batter.

Portland jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning of game two and never looked back,, adding runs in the second and third to extend the lead to 7-0.

Luke Tendler had two hits - including a solo homer - and three RBIs for Portland. He also scored twice.  Chad De La Guerra, Cole Sturgeon, Jeremy Rivera, and Tony Renda each added two hits apiece.

Johnny Magliozzi (L, 0-1) lasted just an inning in the spot start for Binghamton.  Austin McGeorge, David Roseboom, and Eric Hanhold combined to pitch the final five innings and fanned 10 while allowing just two runs.

Manchester, NH - Jordan Weems fanned Bo Bichette with the bases loaded to end the night and give the Portland Sea Dogs (8-19) a 5-3 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (18-10) on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Portland snaps a 10-game losing streak on the road and evens the series at one game apiece.

Teddy Stankiewicz (2-4) worked 5.2 innings of relief, yielding three runs (one earned) to earn the win. Travis Lakins (ND) made his third start of the season, fanning five batters on just one hit over three innings pitched.

The Sea Dogs scored all five runs in the fourth inning off losing pitcher T.J. Zeuch (0-1). Portland sent ten men to the plate, picking up six hits but four were infield-singles.

Danny Mars knocked in the first run with an infield single to third base. Jeremy Rivera lined an RBI single, Tony Renda picked up a run-scoring infield-single, Cole Sturgeon reached on an error by the pitcher, and Josh Ockimey knocked in the last run with an infield hit.

Zeuch, who was making his Double-A debut, allowing nine hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings.

Weems earned his first Double-A save in just his second appearance with Portland.

Manchester, NH - Mike Shawaryn (2-3) fanned a season-high eight batters over seven scoreless innings, as the Portland Sea Dogs (7-1) defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (18-11), 7-1 on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Portland took two of three from the 'Cats, winning their first road series since last season. The 'Dogs had previously dropped nine straight road series.

Josh Ockimey put the 'Dogs on the board with a solo homer to start the second inning off losing pitcher Jon Harris (1-3). Later in the inning, Austin Rei added a two-out RBI double.

Shawaryn scattered three hits, issued one walk, and three of eight strikeouts came to end innings.

Portland broke the game open in the ninth inning with five runs off Andrew Case. Jeremy Rivera added the third run with a sacrifice fly. Tony Renda followed with an infield RBI-single, but Cole Sturgeon smacked a three-run homer for the big blast of the frame.

Daniel McGrath worked the final two innings to earn his first Double-A save.

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs have unveiled a series of new items and improvements throughout the ballpark for the 2018 season. The Sea Dogs 25th season home opener is set for Friday, April 13th at 6:00 PM against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.   Hadlock Field Skyboxes In honor of the Sea Dogs 25th season, 14 of the 17 Hadlock Field skyboxes have been renamed after some of the greatest players that have worn the Sea Dogs uniform including Mookie Betts, Charles Johnson, Kevin Millar, Dustin Pedroia, and Kevin Youkilis. The Ganley, Troubh, and Sea Dogs skyboxes remain. Originally the skyboxes were named after baseball legends such as Hank Aaron, Joe DiMaggio, and Stan Musial. When the Sea Dogs switched affiliations to the Red Sox at the end of the 2002 season, the skyboxes were renamed after Red Sox legends such as Johnny Pesky, Jim Rice, Carl Yastrzemski, and Ted Williams.   New Concession Offerings Hadlock Field will feature a nacho cart for the 2018 season, fans will be able to enjoy a generous portion of this tasty ballpark treat served in souvenir dog bowl.   Moxie, the official soft drink of Maine, will now be available throughout the ballpark.   Joining our craft beer selections this year will be Lone Pine Brewing's Portland Pale Ale and Rising Tide Brewing's Maine Island Trail Ale. Both products will be available at the Not Your Father's Brew House located on the first base side of the ballpark. Additionally, Geary's will be serving Riverside IPA in 2018. While Shipyard has added Finders to their lineup which will be available at the Shipyard Grill located behind the left-field grandstand.   Truly Wild Berry has also been added to the lineup for the 2018 season.   Expanded Protective Netting As previously announced, the Portland Sea Dogs have extended the protective netting for fan safety. Portland completes 3-game sweep of the Fightins

Portland, Maine - Mike Olt drew a bases loaded walk from Miguel Nunez in the eighth inning and the Sea Dogs (3-0) swept the Reading Fightin Phils (0-3) with an 11-10 win on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

 

The opening series sweep is the first for Portland since 2009 (at New Britain) and the first opening series sweep at Hadlock Field since 2005 (vs. Norwich).

 

Trailing 10-8 in the eighth inning, Danny Mars homered over the Maine Monster off of Tom Windle with two outs to tie the game at 10.  All three of the Portland's eighth-inning runs were scored with two outs.

 

Jamie Callahan (W, 1-0) earned the win with 1.2 perfect innings of relief.  Callahan retired all five batters he faced and struck out the side in the ninth to end the game.  Tom Windle (L, 0-1) was the losing pitcher, allowing three earned runs on two hits in 1.2 innings.

 

Reading took a 9-8 lead in the top of the eighth when Carlos Tocci was hit by a Jake Cosart pitch with the bases loaded.  Cosart then walked Kyle Martin to put Reading ahead 10-8.

 

Trailing 8-4 in the seventh, Reading tied the game off of Taylor Grover.  Andrew Pullin hit a three-run homer to cut the deficit to one, then two batters later Kyle Martin hit a solo shot to even the game 8-8.

 

The Sea Dogs scored in the first inning for the second straight game when Mike Olt tripled into the right field corner to score Heiker Meneses to give Portland an early 1-0 lead.

 

Trey Ball (ND) made his Double-A debut and allowed four earned runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings.  Ball walked two and struck out six.  Reading starter Drew Anderson (ND) allowed seven earned runs on eight hits in three innings with one walk and no strikeouts.

 

Trailing 3-1 in the third, the Sea Dogs sent all nine batters to the plate in a six-run third inning, capped off by Jordan Procyshen's first career grand slam to put Portland ahead 7-3.

 

The Sea Dogs extended the lead to 8-3 in the fourth when Danny Mars stole third and came home on a throwing error by catcher Chace Numata.

 

Reading loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth, but were only able to score one run on an RBI groundout by Jiandido Tromp.

Lefty allows two hits over 5 scoreless frames

Portland, Maine - Jalen Beeks pitched five scoreless innings in his 2017 debut and led the Sea Dogs (2-0) to a 4-1 win over the Reading Fightin Phils (0-2)on Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

 

Beeks (W, 1-0) allowed just two hits and struck out eight Reading batters.  He also walked two.

 

The Sea Dogs led wire-to-wire after scoring in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Cole Sturgeon to score Aneury Tavarez, who led off the inning with a bunt single.

 

Portland added two more runs with two outs in the fifth on RBI hits by Jose Rosario and Sturgeon.  Then with runners on the corners, Sturgeon drew a throw on a stolen base attempt and Rosario scored in the ensuing rundown to put the Sea Dogs ahead 4-0.

Portland, Maine - Aneury Tavarez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Sea Dogs (1-0) defeated the Reading Fightin Phils (0-1) in the 2017 season opener 4-2 at Hadlock Field.

 

Tavarez, who played for Baltimore in Spring Training as a Rule 5 Draft selection before being returned to Boston, took Jesen Therrien (L, 0-1) deep into the Sea Dogs bullpen for the game-winner.

 

Making his Double-A debut, Rafael Devers homered in his first plate appearance as a Sea Dog to tie the game 1-1 in the second inning.

 

Ty Buttrey (W, 1-0) earned the victory with two scoreless innings of relief.  Sea Dogs' starter Teddy Stankiewicz (ND) allowed two earned runs on four hits in six innings, while walking two and striking out two.

 

Reading starter Tom Eshelman (ND) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits in 4.2 innings with one walk and three strikeouts.

 

The Sea Dogs took their first lead of the game in the fifth inning.  Jose Rosario struck out, but Yacksel Rios' pitch was wild and Numata's low throw to first wasn't dug out by Martin, which allowed Joseph Monge to score from second base.

 

Reading tied the game at two on a two-out RBI single by Numata to score Carlos Tocci.

 

Austin Maddox (S, 1) shut the door with a perfect ninth to close out the victory.

Portland, Maine- Thursday's Portland Sea Dogs Opening Day game against the Reading Fightin Phils at Hadlock Field has been postponed due to rain.  The Sea Dogs are now set to open the season on Friday, April 7th at 6:00 PM against Reading.   Thursday's postponed game will be made-up as part of a single admission doubleheader on Friday, May 5th at 5:00 PM.  The doubleheader will consist of two seven inning games.   Tickets for the April 6th postponed game, can be exchanged for tickets of equal or lesser value to any 2017 Sea Dogs home game, subject to availability.  Any questions regarding rained out tickets can be directed towards the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or tickets@seadogs.com.   This is the fifth time in the Sea Dogs 24-year history that Opening Day has been postponed but the first time due to rain.  The previous four postponements (2001, 2003, 2007, & 2015) have been due to snow or field conditions due to melting snow.     "It's disappointing to have Opening Day postponed," stated Sea Dogs General Manager Geoff Iacuessa.  "However, I'm very proud of the job that our grounds crew and front staff did preparing the field and stadium to open.  We were ready, despite having eight inches of snow on the field on Sunday morning."   Kevin Youkilis was scheduled to throw-out the ceremonial first-pitch in honor of the Sea Dogs' 15th season as a Red Sox affiliate.  His appearance at Hadlock Field will be rescheduled for a date later this season.   Tickets are available for all 2017 Sea Dogs home games.  Book your nine inning vacation by calling the Sea Dogs ticket office at 207-879-9500 or online atwww.seadogs.com.

January 13th Event Benefits the Maine Children's Cancer Program 

Portland, Maine - Former Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek will headline the 2017 Portland Sea Dogs Hot Stove Dinner and Silent Auction, which benefits the Maine Children's Cancer Program.  The event will take place on Friday, January 13th at 5:30 PM at the Sable Oaks Marriott in South Portland.  Additional guests will be announced.

Tickets for the event are now on sale. Tickets are $60.00 and can be purchased in person at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office, by phone at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com.  Doors open at 5:30 PM with the Silent Auction running from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.  A buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 PM and the program will begin at 7:00 PM.  Everyone who attends will receive an autographed 8 X 10 photo of Varitek.

Varitek, spent his entire career with the Boston Red Sox, hitting .256 with 193 HR and 757 RBI in 1,546 games over 15 seasons.  During his career, Varitek was a 3-time All-Star and a won his lone Gold Glove in 2005. He appeared in 63 post-season games, and hit .333 (5-for-15) during the 2007 World Series. He was inducted into Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2016.  Varitek now serves as special assistant to Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowksi.  

All proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will benefit the official charity of the Portland Sea Dogs'; the Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program.  The Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program was established in 1995 to raise money for the Maine Children's Cancer Program.  For every strikeout that a Sea Dogs' pitcher throws money is raised through generous pledges of businesses and individuals.  In the 23-year history of the program more than four million dollars has been raised.

Sea Dogs to Host Holiday at Hadlock on Saturday

Free Community Event Highlighted by Santa's Arrival from the North Pole by Helicopter

Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs will host the sixth annual Holiday at Hadlock event on Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  The Sea Dogs will turn the place of summer memories into a winter wonderland.  The free event, open to the public, will be highlighted by Santa's arrival from the North Pole via helicopter (ELF One).

Santa Claus is scheduled to land at 11:00 AM at Hadlock Field from the North Pole. Santa will then be available to meet with children until 2:00 PM.

Additional activities include a reindeer petting zoo, arts & crafts, face painting, balloon artists, games, the L.L. Bean Bootmobile, holiday photo opportunities on the field, holiday music, costumed holiday characters, and Slugger the Sea Dog.

Fans will also be able to make their own S'mores.  The Sea Dogs will also provide free hot chocolate and cookies.

The Sea Dogs encourage fans attending to ring a new unwrapped toy to donate to the Toys-for-Tots program.  The Sea Dogs will also be collecting new and used baseball/ softball equipment which will be donated to the Baseball Miracles program.  The Baseball Miracles program distributes baseball equipment to under privileged children throughout the world, giving all kids the chance to play ball.

Additionally, fans will be able to get a head start on their holiday shopping as both the Sea Dogs' Ticket Office and Souvenir Shop will be open to allow fans to give the gift of summer this winter.
