Colby Bogo, Venditti sisters help beat Hamilton

WATERVILLE, Maine — Senior captain Holly Bogo won in three sets and the Venditti sisters accounted for three victories to help the Colby College women’s tennis team to a 5-4 NESCAC win over Hamilton College on Sunday. 

The Mules are 11-3 overall, 3-2 in the conference, are 7-0 in home matches, and have won three straight. Hamilton, which was ranked 15th in the latest Northeast Region rankings, fell to 11-4 and 0-3 in the league. The Mules were 7-12 overall and 0-7 in the league last year.
 
Bogo had her best collegiate victory with a 7-6 (0), 2-6, 7-6 (3) win at fourth singles. She was up 5-3 in the third set and had match points, but Hamilton’s Samantha Weeks ran off three straight games to go up 6-5. Bogo forced the tiebreaker and went up 6-0 before closing out the 7-3 win.
 
Lydia Venditti won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles and Gabriela Venditti coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win. The pair had already combined for an 8-2 win at first doubles.
 
Bogo and Jamie Pine took Colby’s other point with an 8-5 win at third doubles.
