Bates Men's rowing goes 5-2 against WPI, Rochester

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bates men's rowing team's first varsity eight outraced WPI and the University of Rochester on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond, rowing 2,000 meters in under six minutes.

The defending NESCAC champion eight recorded a time of 5:56.0 in outpacing WPI (6:02.202) and Rochester (6:33.798).

Bates amassed a 5-2 record on the day, including a win in the three-boat novice eights race, where Bates (6:28.8) again outpaced WPI (6:39.1) and Rochester. WPI edged Bates in a head-to-head M2V8 race, 6:24.6 to 6:28.785, and Bates also placed second between two WPI entries in a varsity fours race.

Up next for the Bates rowing teams is the Presidents Cup Regatta at home in Greene, Maine, on April 17 at 9am.
