BANGOR, Maine --- The Thomas College men's lacrosse
team fell to Husson University, 17-3, in a North Atlantic Conference
matchup at Boucher Field.
Junior Kade Strout (Richmond, Maine / Richmond) scored a pair of goals, while sophomore Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vt. / Colchester) added a goal and senior Zac Crimmin (Westbrook, Maine / Westbrook) an assist for the Terriers (1-8, 1-6 NAC).
Down 8-0 at halftime, Blondin put the Terriers on the board with a
goal just 90 seconds into the
second half. He finished with seven shots
overall, including two on goal, while scooping up four ground balls and
going 7-of-23 on face-offs.
Strout tallied Thomas' second goal - a man-up tally off an assist
from Crimmin - just past the midway mark of the fourth quarter, then
added another with just over four minutes left in the game.
Trent Sell and Brandon Corbo each scored four goals and assisted on
three others for Husson (4-8, 4-2 NAC). Brett Martin and Derek Driscoll
both added three goals and an assist.
The Eagles, who also led 15-1 after three quarters, outshot the
Terriers by a 64-26 margin and held a 52-18 advantage in ground balls.
Husson won 16 of 23 face-offs and was also 17-of-20 on clear attempts, while Thomas went just 12-of-28.
The teams combined for 27 penalties - 10 for Thomas and 17 for
Husson. Unfortunately, the Terriers were unable to capitalize on their
extra-man opportunities, going just 1-for-14. The Eagles fared slightly
better, converting on two of nine chances.
Thomas closes out the regular season with a home-and-home series with
rival UMaine-Farmington April 25 and 27. Monday's contest is a North
Atlantic Conference game at Farmington, while Wednesday's return game at
Smith Field will not figure into the NAC standings.
