The third ranked Polar Bears (2-0, 1-0 NESCAC) defeated 12th ranked Amherst (1-1, 0-1 NESCAC) to open the conference schedule with a commanding offensive showing.
How It Happened
- Nicole Barvieri scored her first collegiate goal with 11:48 remaining in the opening half, tipping in a Rachel Kennedy shot from the top left side of the circle.
- Ganong doubled Bowdoin's lead with less than five minutes to play in the opening half as she tipped a shot by Kelsey Mullaney during one of seven Bowdoin penalty corners in the half.
- Just over ten minutes into the second half, Kennedy successfully converted on a penalty stroke to put Bowdoin ahead 3-0.
- Amherst answered two minutes later as Sara Culhane buried her fourth goal of the season.
- Ganong stuffed in a rebound 17 minutes into the second half, her second of the game and the team's fourth, to end the day's scoring for both teams.
- Bowdoin outshot Amherst 32-3, including 21 shots in the second half. The Polar Bears held a 12-4 edge in corners.
